Pikangikum

We now have had 4 assemblies and our next one is around the corner. These take place in the gym or library and as our students vote and as the votes are counted by our co-founders, students in the gym enjoy a variety of inspiring videos. The first video was We Are The World, a song written by numerous artists; including Michael Jackson and Bryan Adams. Soon enough, someone started singing, and most of the 170 students in the gym started to sing along with them. The gym was filled with singing... some teachers were even crying.

Our assembly on January 29th was a great success! Around 180 students came out at lunch recess. They walked in to music written by one of our co-founders, played by four of our co-founders. Then, three ideas were pulled, and presentations were made. The ideas were... To give food to the food bank in Uxbridge, to give gently used items to a native reserve in northern Ontario, and have everyone do random acts of kindness.
After the song, the results of the votes were in... The native reserve in northern Ontario won!
This native reserve that we will be helping is right on the boarder of Manitoba in Ontario's high north. This specific reserve has the highest suicide rate out of all the native reserves in Ontario. That's why it's so important that we give our help to this specific reserve.
We have collected almost 100 hats as well as over 50 pairs of mits to send to Pikangikum. We are also sending thousands of beads and other items to Pikangikum to aid the natives in making moccasins and other jewlery. These items are all packed and ready to fly up to the reserve.
Thank you so much to anyone who has donated items to send up. You are making a difference in the lives of many people!

Cleaning the Streets
Winter has come and gone, and now the streets need cleaning! 100 Kids Who Care is here to help! We are on a mission to clean the streets of Uxbridge and surrounding areas. Families can group together and clean their street, or a street that they know has no one to clean it. Good luck and happy cleaning! See you next year!
